When melting a scented candle in a candle warmer, does the wax eventually lose its scent?
The mass of the wax seems to always stay the same when I use my candle warmer, but I notice that the fragrance has decreased. Advertisers say candle warmers help preserve the candle. But does it preserve the fragrance? Do candle warmers just release the scent and therefore leaving us with a bunch of unscented wax? If this is the case I might as well stop using candle warmers and just burn the wax along with the fragrance.
Yes, the scent will dissipate over time. It is blended with the wax when the candle is made and with repeated heatings it will evaporate away. The nice thing about using a warmer is when you turn it off, you don’t smell the burning smell like when you blow out a candle.
The scent will fade, but it will last longer than burning the candle directly. I like the tart warmers a little more, you get a good amount of use out of them, but when it is time to replace you are only replacing the small tart or votive size, also they melt quicker than the jars.
The oil does evaporate faster using a candle warmer. I use my candle warmer for the liquid potpourri, save a old candle jar and clean all of the wax out, then use the candle jar for the liquid potpourri, I go thru three to four bottles of the potpourri a month, which is cheaper than a good candle every month! You can also use a small canning jar to put the potpourri in and set on the warmer.
